This painting represents perhaps one of the most beautiful places I've visited in the world: Switzerland. This painting of the mountainside was taken. from a photo I took on the top of Mount Stanserhorn, near Lucerne in Switzerland. It was summer when we visited though you could still see some snow in the distance. The views were incredible - it felt very much like The Sound of Music.
I wanted this painting to portray the vast size of the mountainside with the tiny houses spread out amount the groves. Although the distance.mountains fall away and turn blue as the fade into the background, I wanted to capture the warm summer sun so I used warm and cool greens.
