The watercolor print captures the essence of the first winners of the Kentucky Derby, Aristides and jockey Oliver Lewis. Against a background of a vibrant wall of red roses, the artwork brings to life the historic moment of their victory. Created by Aimee Griffith, the official artist of the Kentucky Derby, this print beautifully portrays the grace and strength of Aristides as he races towards the finish line, guided by the skilled jockey Oliver Lewis. The colors and details in the artwork evoke the excitement and energy of the Kentucky Derby, even though it was based on written descriptions due to the absence of colored photographs at that time.

Due to demand, this print is now available in the 8x10 and 11x14 size for a limited time! Both 8x10 and 11x14 sizes will come with a mat to make the final outside size 11x14 (for 8x10) and 16x20 (for 11x14). A couple Limited Editions remain, details below.

LIMITED EDITION: This is for a limited edition of 30 prints of the 18x24” size. Only 30 prints will ever be made of this painting in this size. The limited edition print is printed with premium archival giclee inks on premium Verona paper, 300 gsm thickness.

The limited edition prints will have a 1” border on all sides and a 2” border on the bottom, where each print will be individually signed and numbered (1/30, 2/30, etc accordingly). Each limited edition print will include a certificate of authenticity.
