There’s something about this horse. Sovereignty isn’t just any thoroughbred — he’s the 2025 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner and the 2025 Horse of the Year. The light catches the angles of his face just right, and I tried to bring out the beauty - and confidence - but yet he still has gentle, kind eyes.
I painted this portrait shortly after his Belmont win, when the bluegrass was buzzing with excitement and the Triple Crown talk was in full swing.
